Northwest Football Jumps To No. 2 In NJCAA Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The NJCAA national office released this week’s rankings for football and Northwest Mississippi Community College, at 8-1 overall with three Top 20 wins, has made the jump from No. 6 up to No. 2 in the nation.
The Rangers received three of nine first-place votes and 193.5 total points. Rochester (Minn.) is ranked No. 1 with six first-place votes and 201 points.
From its No. 6 spot last week, Northwest jumped previous No. 1 Butler, which lost 25-20 to Garden City, No. 3 East Mississippi, who was disqualified from the postseason after a benches-clearing brawl at Mississippi Delta, No. 4 Coffeyville and No. 5 Central Lakes (Minn.).
The last time the Rangers were ranked No. 2 was in the NJCAA preseason poll prior to the 2004 season.
Northwest will host East Central on Saturday, Oct. 31 in the MACJC state semifinals at Bobby Franklin Field. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. Tune in at www.nwccrangers.com/watch.
