MACJC Football Players Of The Week – Week Nine

Congratulations to the following student-athletes on their selections as the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Players of the Week for the ninth week of the 2015 football season. These three athletes are now nominated for national honors by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Offense: Dejerric Bryant – Freshman – Quarterback – Holmes Bryant passed for three touchdowns and ran in another in Holmes 56-20 win over Northeast. Bryant was 10-of-12 for 243 yards. His longest touchdown was 70 yards to Dre Massey. He also had a 23-yard TD pass and an 18-yard TD pass and a seven-yard run.

Defense: Paul James, III – Sophomore – Lineman – Copiah-Lincoln James, III had 3 sacks (-21 yards), 5 tackles for loss (-33 yards), 3 quarterback hurries, and 8.5 tackles in Co-Lin’s 17-14 win over Jones County. James leads the NJCAA in sacks with a total of 14.

Special Teams: Patrick Ponder – Sophomore – Punter – Jones County Ponder, a 6-foot-1, 180-pounder from Bay St Louis, punted seven times for a 42.1 yards per kick average with five punts inside the 20-yard line in last week’s 17-14 loss to Co-Lin. Ponder leads the MACJC and is third in the NJCAA with a 43.1 yards per kick average.
