East Central Football Warriors Now Set To Play Northwest In State Semifinals

The 16th ranked East Central Community College Football Warriors will travel to Senatobia Saturday, Oct. 31, to face the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers in the semifinals of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges state playoffs.
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Bobby Franklin Field on the Northwest campus.
Due to the disqualification of East Mississippi Community College from the playoffs for a fight that occurred during the Lions’ game Oct. 22 at Mississippi Delta Community College, Northwest is now the No. 1 seed from the MACJC’s North Division.
East Central was originally scheduled to play No. 1 North seed East Mississippi in Scooba on Oct. 31.
With a 20-3 road victory over Pearl River Community College Oct. 22, East Central finished second in the MACJC South Division and qualified for the state playoffs for the first time since 2001.
East Central finished the regular season 7-2 overall, the best won-loss record for the Warriors since 1999. The Warriors finished 4-2 in MACJC South Division play. Northwest, which is ranked No. 6 nationally, finished 8-1 overall and 5-1 in North Division play.
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, the No. 1 seed from the South Division, will host Itawamba Community College, now the No. 2 seed from the North, in the other semifinal game.
